The Parker Boys Cross Country Team ran their best race of the year at the most important time last Friday at Kit Carson Park, as they captured the Coastal Conference Championship.

Led by Sophomore Spencer Ruff who finished the 3 mile race in 17:41, the Lancer runners finished in 4th, 6th, 7th, 11th, and 16th place. Those finishes gave the Lancers a score of 33, which was almost halfway underneath the next closest school, making it a truly dominant performance. The Girls team also ran admirably, finishing in 5th place despite only having 5 runners who took the starting line.

Head Coach Matt Schellenberg was especially pleased with his team’s performance, stating “I am extremely proud of all of our runners. We had several who ran exceptional races, including 10 who set personal records this weekend.” He also offered a special congratulations to the boys team of Ruff, Alex Olmetta, Spencer Seay, Peter Valverde, Jesse Smith, and Ian Lillie for earning the conference Championship.

The Varsity teams will continue training this week for the CIF Championships on Saturday, 11/17 at Morely field, where both the boys and girls teams will compete to win in Division 5. The boys race goes off at 11:45am, while the girls race starts at 1:20pm.
