WOW, originally known as Women of W.A.R. Lords, was launched by female Parker students who wanted to confront the gender gap in the STEM industry as well as Parker’s own robotics team. Today, WOW harnesses twice the power by recruiting, retaining, and engaging girls in FIRST Robotics, creating a network of women who share experiences to promote girls in STEM.

Anxious to return to her hometown, Stacey Patsko jumped at the chance to move back to San Diego. In August, Stacey accepted the position as Parker’s Upper School dean of students, leaving her position as dean of students and middle school athletic director at the Texas Military Institute Episcopal in San Antonio, Texas.

Parker’s robotics club hosted an FTC league competition on Sunday, Dec. 9, providing a space for 14 local, community-based robotics teams to compete. One of those teams was FTC 10092, a community team supported in part by Parker’s robotics program.

In Middle School at Parker, Grade 8 students get the chance to research and share their family’s story through the Grade 8 Family History Project—a project that has been part of the Parker curriculum for nearly 30 years.
