Parker’s Upper School Debate Team receives high marks as they prepare for upcoming competition. Sophia Epley, Class of 2021, competed in Lincoln-Douglas debate at the San Diego Imperial Speech League discussing the topic of whether or not the U.S. should provide military aid to authoritarian governments and received a medal for winning three of her four rounds of debate. Alec Sheres, Class of 2022, and Carly Kalunian, Class of 2021, both received positive feedback from judges at their tournaments covering the topic of whether armed security guards should be required in schools and whether government shutdowns should be prohibited. Parker’s Debate Team will head into their next big competition this Friday, Feb. 22 and Saturday, Feb. 24 competing in parliamentary debate and public forum debate.
