Club Update: Speech & Debate

The Parker Speech & Debate Team competed in the San Diego Imperial Valley Speech League Individual Events tournament on October 23-24. Fourteen students competed on both Friday night and Saturday and had to navigate a novel virtual platform and other technological challenges but performed beautifully.

Alumni Interview: Wayman Yeldell ’09

Wayman Yeldell ’09 was one of four alumni featured earlier this month during the Upper School fall interim, “The Common Ideal of Character.” Wayman spoke in a prerecorded interview with Social Justice teacher Phil Trotter, Parker Director of Community Engagement Kevin Dunn, and Grade 12 student Eleni Stavros, Class of 2021.

Learning to Build Bridges Across Viewpoints

Guided by shared goals and norms, Parker students in grades JK through 12 are engaging in a curriculum intended to spark honest, candid, and critical conversations.

The Common Ideal of Character was created to foster civil dialogue in the Parker community as the country at-large prepares for the 2020 Presidential Election on Tuesday, November 3.
