It’s an unveiling weeks in the making.

Next Thursday, following Day of Understanding programming, the MLK Mural will be unveiled on Parker’s Linda Vista Campus. For weeks, students and faculty-led by art teacher Paul Mericle–have been working to design and piece together the Color Brave Mural Project.

The project, which includes more than 1,100 painted tiles from students, faculty, and staff, will comprise a mosaic mural of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Being color brave means having candid conversations about race that can help participants better understand each other’s perspectives and experiences. By engaging in ‘Color Brave’ conversations, we have the opportunity to better understand each others’ perspectives and what it means to build a community centered on inclusion and belonging.
