Parker lands spot on Newsweek’s ‘Top STEM High Schools 2020’ List

Parker has been ranked among the top STEM schools in the country, according to Newsweek’s “Top STEM High Schools 2020” report released earlier this month.

The School landed at No. 195 out of 500 schools ranked and grabbed the highest spot among independent schools in San Diego. The State of California had 82 schools ranked on the list, including top-ranked Stanford Online High School.

Windows and Mirrors: Reflecting the Student Experience at Parker

On the first day of Black History Month, Upper Schoolers participated in Parker’s fourth annual Diversity Day, focusing on the intersection of race, class, and gender. The very next day, Parker hosted its first Pollyanna, a day-long diversity conference that invites local private and independent schools into one room to work towards a common goal. This year’s goal: building and sustaining a diverse community that reflects the student experience.

Bridging School Divisions

For those in Grades 6 and 9, it is an especially significant occasion as they bridge to a new school division. Grade 6 students leave behind the comforts of the Lower School that some have known since Junior Kindergarten, and Grade 9 students are about to embark on their last four years of school before heading off to college.
