Parker’s Middle School robotics students competed at the 2019 Robotics Spring Showdown at LEGOLAND California this past Sunday and returned with high marks from judges. The Spring Showdown gathers more than 60 FIRST LEGO League teams (Grades 4 to 8) to compete with LEGO-based robots of their design.
Parker Grade 6 students Yuvi Anand, Brij Bharadwaj, Dominic Ciccimaro, James Foundos, Hanson Loh, Jake Mills, and Minh-Vi Nguyen took second place with their alliance in the “On The Spot Challenge.”
During this challenge, teams are randomly partnered on the spot with other robotics teams whom they have never met. Together these new alliances are given hours to learn to build on their strengths and work through their weaknesses to achieve a robot mission. Placing second in this challenge shows how well Parker students can work together with peers they only met within hours.
Parker’s second Middle School team including Audrey Chan, Class of 2023, Caroline Feron, Class of 2025, Garrett Henderson, Class of 2023, Matthew Harutunian, Class of 2023, and Ethan Dunn, Class of 2023, received the Judges Award for their exceptional team dynamics during Sunday’s competition.
