Dear Parker Families,

Happy Winter Semester! In the excitement of the action-packed month ahead, I first want to thank the parents who attended the Poetry Cafe last month. Continuing with this year’s school theme of being connected, the evening was an opportunity for Parker parents from all three divisions to come together and to preview what our students experienced when Elizabeth Acevedo acted as the visiting poet during Poetry Week.

There are opportunities to build even more connections through our upcoming events, including our PA General Meeting, featuring a presentation by Rosetta Lee, and the Sail Away Soiree annual gala.

Parents Association General Meeting: Tuesday, Feb. 18 from 8:30 to 10 am on the Mission Hills Campus; breakfast will be provided. From 8:30 to 9 am we will share PA updates. At 9 am, the ParkerCares committee welcomes Rosetta Lee, returning by popular demand. In her presentation, “Talking to Youth About Heated Topics,” Ms. Lee will speak on cultivating an inclusive school community and instilling positive self-identities in our children.

Sail Away Soiree: We look ahead to the most important Parents Association event of the year, our annual gala. The gala will be held on Saturday, May 9. All gala proceeds go to support our student financial assistance. The success of this event relies on Parker parents, and there are countless ways to get involved.

  • Buy your tickets: Attend this fun night and encourage your friends to join you. Advance price tickets are on sale now: purchase tickets here. When buying your tickets online, feel free to specify your table seating requests, or include your student’s grade and activities. The reservation crew will seat you at a table with familiar faces.
  • Become a sponsor: Sponsorships are still available with benefits. Click HERE to learn more.
  • Donate auction items: We are seeking donations including gift cards for restaurants, hotels, and services as well as access to vacation homes, concert tickets, and sports venues. If you are a business owner or have business connections, please contact our auction chairs: [email protected].
  • Be a volunteer: You can still join the committee or sign up to help on the day of the event. Gala volunteering is always a fun way to meet other parents. Contact [email protected]. The next gala volunteer meeting will take place on Thursday, Feb. 13 from 8:15 to 10:15 am on the Linda Vista Campus, Student Life Center, Casey Family Room.

I look forward to seeing you at our many events this month as we continue to nurture the relationships that make our Parker community connected.

Warmly,

Madeleine Nawrocki
Parker PA President
