Hello Lancer Supporters,

Our fall sports season has come to a close and we have transitioned into our winter sports of basketball, cheer, dance, sailing, soccer, and surfing for the Upper School, and basketball, soccer, and girls softball for the Middle School.

The fall season had us fielding teams in cheer, cross country, dance, football, girls golf, sailing, boys sand volleyball, girls tennis, girls volleyball, surfing, and water polo. Our reputation continues to be stellar in the local community as a competitive program with integrity. Highlighted below are some individual and team accomplishments from this past fall.

Our Girls Golf team continued to be the class of the Coastal League winning the league championship and league tournament.

Brooke Seay won the UT Athlete of the Week on September 4 and was recently chosen as the UT Academic Team Captain and was also named Conference Player of the year. Unfortunately she was not able to play in the postseason because of a broken finger.

Caroline Garay won the Coastal Conference Championship, making her the conference player of the year. She was also first team all CIF for the third year in a row and advanced to the regional championships for the third year.

Our Football team rolled to a 11-2 record and advanced to the CIF Championship game. The Lancers were led by senior Ryan Sanborn who threw for a school record 27 TD’s and over 2,000 yards. He also rushed for over 600 yards and made 82 tackles on the season. Ryan was named the Pacific League Offensive Player of the Year, and County Special Teams Player of the Year by the KUSI Prep Pigskin Report.  Ryan was also selected 1st Team All-CIF as the County Kicker of the year, and was chosen to play in the US Army All-American game.

Sam Camposeco led the team in rushing and tackles, while Jonathan Gordon broke single-season school records with 1,041 receiving yards and 15 touchdown receptions.

Our Girls tennis team was led by seniors Isabella Elia, Maya and Sonali Chu and Danica Du. Our top singles player was Caitlin Rowlings.  Freshmen Anisa Stone and Mackaylee Dalms won their first round matchup at the CIF Finals.  Our team improved tremendously over the course of the season.

Our Girls Volleyball team was led by seniors Berkeley Hayes and Sophia Galdamez.  They celebrated big victories over Division 1 teams, Rancho Bernardo and San Dieguito, and also had tough five game losses to some of the top ranked teams in the county. The team advanced to the CIF D2 finals where they lost a hard-fought battle to Escondido.

Boys Water Polo finished the season with an incredible 19-10 record and advanced to the CIF D3 Finals.  The Lancers were led by Andres Heredia, Adam Nussbaum and leading goal scorer Matt Bender. They, along with Christian Tran and Ashley Watt, were named to the all-CIF team.  Andreas and Adam were also chosen to the all-league team.

Sand Volleyball finished the year as one of the top eight teams in the county.  The Lancers had big wins over Pt. Loma, and La Jolla. Nick Gustafson led the team along with Bijan Sagart, Spencer Thoene, Mark Tankersley, and Ben Sheres.

Finally, our Cross Country teams had another stellar year.  Our girls team was led by Alexa Gibson who was our top finisher at the Coastal League meet and at the CIF Championships.

Our boys team led by Spencer Ruff won the Coastal League and CIF D5 Championships.  Also contributing to the CIF title were Spencer Seay, Peter Valverde, Jesse Smith, Alex Amiata, Ian Lillie, and John Valverde.

With the victory the Lancers qualified for the State meet where their top finisher was Freshman Keenan Pala.

Congratulations to all of our dedicated student athletes!
