On Sunday, Dec. 9, Parker’s sailing team had a strong showing at the PCISA (Pacific Coast Interscholastic Sailing Association) SoCal 3 at Mission Bay Yacht Club. Parker had seven teams in the 36-boat fleet. For many of the students, it was their first high school regatta ever.
In 1st place was skipper Gabriel Campbell, Class of 2022, and crews Lindsey Williams, Class of 2022, who sailed races 1-3, and Tully Cook, Class of 2021, who sailed races 4-6.
In 4th was our Grade 8 team: skipper Garrett Henderson and crew Shea McGrath, both Class of 2023. This was their first high school sailing experience.
Just one point out of 5th place was the team of Paulo Campbell and Nikolai Halldorson, both class of 2022, who finished the day with some excellent races.
Another strong team was Radha Carollo and Barbara Flores Lee, both Class of 2020 and two sailors who were brand new to the sport just one year ago. They also had solid races towards the end of the day and ended up 11th out of 36 boats.
Also on the water were the Lancer teams of Cesar Fernandez, Class of 2019; Mikk Sanborn, Class of 2022; Carson Keyes, Class of 2021; Theo Fernon, Class of 2022; and Aadam Awad and Alex Gee, both Class of 2022.
Congratulations to all sailors, and special thanks to Coach Ty Reed, who was on the water sharing his sailing expertise with the student-athletes all day, and parents Clint Williams and David Sanborn for driving our three-boat trailer to and from the regatta.

Next up for Parker Sailing: the Rose Bowl Regatta in Long Beach to be held Jan. 5 and 6.
