I am standing here in front of the Parker P in the new Student Life Center. The PArker P used to be at midcourt in the Middle School Gym. I’m here because I want to give you an update on where we are with the Heart of Camus project. To begin, I want to thank all of you. Students, parents, faculty and staff, you’ve been incredibly patient throughout this entire process. I know this has been an inconvenience and it has had a real impact on your day. But we are close. We are really close to finishing. And I want to let you know exactly where we are.
The last time I was able to share our status with you, we thought and had very good reason to believe that we would be in at the end of February. But the reality is this – over the last 30 to 60 days, we have come across some foreseen and some unforeseen hiccups in the process. Everything from the fact that we have had 14 rain days since January first, and some of the inspections; city, county, and state inspections; have taken longer than we had hoped.
So what does that mean for you? What does that mean for us? It means that we will move into the Heart of Campus facility sometime after spring break. I know that is not what you want to hear, and I understand your disappointment. But we are going to get there. And when we get there, it is going to be an unbelievable experience for our kids. And sometimes there’s a desire to finish it quickly, just to get it done, but we are going to make sure we get it done right. And that means that we are going to make sure that the quality of this project is exactly what it should be.
Again, thank you for your patience. Trust me when I say, it’s going to be a wonderful celebration when we move in. And if you stick with me for about 60 more seconds, we are going to take inside the facility and show you a little bit of what it looks like.
