Jacob Jovien, Class of 2019, was named a CIF Spirit of Sport San Diego Section winner for the 2018-19 winter season. He receives a scholarship as part of the award and joins other section winners from across the state in the honor.

Jacob plays basketball at Parker under the direction of head coach Jim Tomey. Jacob, a 6’4” forward for the Lancers, is a standout athlete on the court. He helped his team to the final round of the CIF Division I San Diego Section Championships, where the Lancers lost by just one point to Cathedral Catholic. The team’s season came to an end in the first round of the Division II CIF State Championships.

The CIF Spirit of Sport Award recognizes students who exemplify the ideals of the organization, “pursuing victory with honor” in their lives and athletic pursuits. One male athlete and one female athlete from every CIF section in the state of California are recognized for the award. The student-athletes are selected based on exemplary sportsmanship, school and community service, and leadership.
