Parker lands spot on Newsweek’s ‘Top STEM High Schools 2020’ List

Parker has been ranked among the top STEM schools in the country, according to Newsweek’s “Top STEM High Schools 2020” report released earlier this month.

The School landed at No. 195 out of 500 schools ranked and grabbed the highest spot among independent schools in San Diego. The State of California had 82 schools ranked on the list, including top-ranked Stanford Online High School.

Upper School Robotics Team Receives Engineering Inspiration Award for the Fourth Time

Parker’s Upper School robotics team, the W.A.R. Lords (We Are Robot Lords) won the Engineering Inspiration Award for the fourth time. The team received the award at the San Diego Regional FIRST California Robotics competition on Saturday, March 9. Sponsored by NASA, this award automatically qualifies them to advance to the FIRST Championship in Houston, Texas this April.

WOW: Empowering Students for Twice the Power

WOW, originally known as Women of W.A.R. Lords, was launched by female Parker students who wanted to confront the gender gap in the STEM industry as well as Parker’s own robotics team. Today, WOW harnesses twice the power by recruiting, retaining, and engaging girls in FIRST​ Robotics, creating a network of women who share experiences to promote girls in STEM.

All-Girls Robotics Team Takes Home First Prize for Teamwork in Regional Competition

Parker’s all-girls robotics team, the Combustible Lemons, took home first prize for teamwork at the FIRST LEGO League Southern California Championship. The Combustible Lemons, made up of nine girls in grades 6 to 8, was one of two teams to represent Parker at the championship competition held Dec. 3 at Legoland. In total, about 60 teams from across the region competed.
